Join the 2027 Harvest List

We expect our next harvest dates to land sometime in Summer/Fall 2027 — but that's not locked in. Signing up here doesn't reserve a date or require a deposit; it helps us plan inventory and reach out the moment new dates are confirmed.

We run small batches on purpose — it's the only way we can guarantee every animal meets our standard. Once you've ordered with us, you're what we call a 'steakholder,' and steakholders always hear from us first. You're only a new customer once, though — sign up below, and you'll be right behind our existing steakholders for the next call.

We use this to estimate your shipping cost ahead of time including the goal of providing free shipping outside of our service area if the delivery routes allow.

About Us

We're a first generation family-owned and operated farm nestled in the beautiful Blue Ridge Mountains of Virginia. Here, raising high-quality, healthy beef isn't just a business – it's a personal mission.

As a cancer survivor, I understand the profound impact food has on our health and well-being. Having faced health challenges firsthand, food integrity became the cornerstone of our family's values. We believe you deserve to know exactly where your food comes from and how it's raised.

Every animal that carries our name is grass-fed, grass-finished Holstein. No shortcuts, no compromises. After battling cancer, I went looking for the best food I could find — and every time I thought I had it, there was a catch. Grass-fed didn't mean grass-finished. Local didn't mean honest. High price didn't mean high quality. That's why we're not worried about being cheap, and we're not worried about making money — the only thing that matters is raising the highest quality food possible. And I'm just blessed to have enough to share.

If any animal doesn't meet our standard — for any reason — we sell it at a loss at market rather than process it for you. We'd rather be out of stock than put anything less than our best on your table. It's also part of why our inventory runs limited at times: we're not stretching to meet demand, we're only ever offering what actually earned its way to your freezer.

We raise our cattle on lush pastures, allowing them to graze freely and develop naturally. We never use antibiotics or growth hormones, ensuring the purest, healthiest beef possible.

Most grass-finished beef asks you to make a trade-off — you get the health benefits, but you're powering through a tougher, leaner bite to get there. We don't think you should have to choose. We've found that the Holstein breed produces an unmatched grass-fed, grass-finished beef: lean, but naturally tender in a way most grass-finished cattle simply aren't — it doesn't need heavy marbling to be tender, and it doesn't shrink down on you in the pan either. Yes, it takes longer to bring a Holstein to finishing weight than a typical beef breed — but that patience is exactly why there's no compromise on your plate. You get the integrity of truly grass-finished beef without giving up the tenderness people usually associate with grain-fed. Fair warning: once you try it, you'll never settle for less.

Our commitment goes beyond just our animals and our plates. We strive for sustainable practices that nurture the land and our environment. We believe in a holistic approach to farming, one that respects the delicate balance of nature as God intended.

Giving back is also a core value at Calhoun Livestock. We've all been touched by the fight against cancer, and St. Jude Children's Research Hospital was there for us when we needed them most. That's why we're proud to donate a portion of every sale to support their lifesaving work.

At Calhoun Livestock, you're not just buying beef – you're getting a piece of our family story, supporting sustainable practices, and contributing to a worthy cause. We take immense pride in what we do, and it shows in every bite of our delicious, nutritious beef.

We invite you to join us on this journey towards healthier living, a deeper connection with your food, and giving back to those in need.
